They actually refer straight-haired people to other salons. That was a totally new feeling for me! I am so happy that I will never go to any other salon again. I went straight out for dinner and drinks with friends and felt nothing but excited about what my hair looked like. For the first time in my life (after 27 years!) I walked straight out of the salon and felt like a million bucks. Because most salons would give me a frizzball style because they couldn’t find the right products or diffuse properly.
BONUS: Amy also knows how to style curly hair! 100% of my appointments prior to visiting Ambushed, I would walk out of the salon and go straight home, wash my hair, and style it the way I normally do. And then she EDUCATED me about curly hair through the entire process. I went to the owner of the salon because I knew I could be direct with her and she’s the one who cares most about the reputation of her salon. I always walked out of the salon with a flat crown and huge bushy thick layers at the bottom. For years, I’ve been begging salons to cut my hair a certain way (volume on top with very thin yet long layers at the bottom). Especially for a curly-haired girl who has never had a good haircut in her whole life. Because at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters. What I will tell you is how great my hair cut was. I’m not going to tell you how chic and beautiful the salon is, how nice the staff is, or that the location is super convenient for me because I live in the Short North.
